Hello!  My name is Chris Matzen and I am excited to be working with you in World History this year.  Prior to joining the social studies department at Liberty, I taught in the Lake Chelan School District for two years and as a substitute in Edmonds and Shoreline.  I also lived and worked abroad as an English teacher in South Korea.

My academic background includes a Bachelor's in History from the University of Washington and a Master's in Teaching from Western Washington University.  History and learning are my passions, and it is my hope that you walk out of World History finding value in what we do, and with habits of mind and useful skills that will serve you both now and in the future.

 

Our primary goal each day is to grow, reflect, and better ourselves---something which historical study offers many opportunities to do.  Here's to an excellent school year!
