Hello World History students,
I hope you all are staying healthy, physically and mentally, as we make our way into the month of April (it is nice to finally have some sunshine!). I want to share a few things with you before spring “break” next week:
- REMINDER: if you have any missing work from before the closure, please make sure that you complete it and turn it in via email (late policy still applies). You can find files for pre-closure work on our website (https://matzencisd.wixsite.com/worldhistory) on the “Files” page for your course.
- If you haven’t already, please carefully read the ISD At-Home Learning Plan (beginning on Monday, April 20) and check out online resources here: https://www.issaquah.wednet.edu/family/supports/learning/high
- One of the challenges with remote teaching & learning is the medium through which it happens. While I will continue to update our class website, we will also be utilizing Microsoft Teams when we begin on April 20. It is district-supported and every high school student has access to Microsoft Office programs (Teams, One Drive cloud storage, Word, PowerPoint, etc.), which will allow for more efficient communication, sharing of instruction/materials, and collaboration going forward.
- BEFORE April 20, please take time to make sure you can login into your Office 365 account. You can do this by going to either ClassLink or the Office.com website and signing in with the following:
Username: school ‘email’ (username@issaquah.wednet.edu). Username should be first 4 letters of last name, 3 first letters of first name, and grad year [ex: MatzChr23] Password: school computer password
It is a given that remote school will come with challenges, and there is a learning curve with anything new (and with technology in particular). I want to say thank you in advance for your hard work, patience, and flexibility in light of the difficulties we’re all facing. I look forward to getting back to doing history with you on April 20.
Please don’t hesitate to email if you have any questions. Thanks and talk to you again soon,
~ Matzen
