Hello World History,
I hope you’re hanging in there all right as you make the final push in these last couple of weeks! With our last day on Tuesday, 6/23, a well-deserved break is within our reach. As you continue to engage with online learning, please know that you are doing a great job. Not only that, staying engaged for these remaining days—as challenging as it is—offers an opportunity to improve upon your Baseline grades (and your overall GPA), as well as a chance to set yourself up well for the next course in the history sequence. Keep on fighting and hanging tough! Here is this week’s schedule and some announcements.
The schedule for this week (6/8 – 6/12):
MON. / TUE. (6/8, 6/9) – go to the “June 8 – 12” Channel in Teams. Watch today’s video PPT file about globalization. Then, head over to the Assignment post “Globalization - WebQuest” in Teams. There are also some optional (not required) videos linked in the post, if you’re interested in learning more about the complexities of globalization. This activity is due on Thurs., 6/11 (A), Fri. 6/12 (B).
WED. (6/10) – I will have Office Hours from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Wednesdays and Monday afternoons from 3:30 – 4:30 PM. During these times, I will be available for quick email responses to questions and for calls (the “Meet” feature within Microsoft Teams). Please let me know in advance if you would like to schedule a call.
THU. / FRI. (6/11, 6/12) – Today is a work day—no new content or assignments. Some possibilities for what you can do: finish up the Globalization WebQuest from earlier in the week and/or turn in any missing work. The Globalization WebQuest is due today [Thurs., 6/11 (A); Fri., 6/12 (B)]. **FRI., 6/12 is the deadline for all missing work.**
Other announcements / reminders:
- To use Microsoft Teams, go to Office.com and sign in with:
Username: school ‘email’ (username@issaquah.wednet.edu). Username should be first 4 letters of last name, first 3 letters of first name, and grad year [ex: MatzChr23]
Password: school computer password
**The deadline for all missing work is FRIDAY, 6/12.**
- MISSING WORK: if you have any missing work since April 20 (the start of At-Home Learning) OR assignments from before the closure, remember that you can still earn points by completing and turning these in via email or Teams. For pre-closure work, go to our class website (https://matzencisd.wixsite.com/worldhistory) on the “Files” page for your course.
- Your overall Semester 2 grade will be your grade as it stands at the end of the semester OR your Baseline grade---whichever is higher. Remember that this assumes you have attempted to engage with online learning---so make sure you are active & completing work in Teams.
- Final grades will be letter grades A - D or an Incomplete. If a student earns an Incomplete for World History, then they must make up that credit in the future, as this is a core class.
- Previously recorded lessons (and the PPT slides they’re based on) can be found under the “Files” tab in the channel for that week.
As always, please let me know via email or a public post in Teams if/when you have a question, need help with anything, etc.! You’ve got this! Talk to you soon,
- Mr. Matzen
