WH 2 (fresh.) - Week of 5/18 - 5/22

Greetings World History folk,

Already halfway through May, yikes!  Hope this finds you & yours healthy and doing well these days.  As challenging as this transition to online learning has been, you all are showing incredible grit and strength in the work you are doing!  You’ve got this!  Here is this week’s schedule and some reminders.

The schedule for this week (5/18 – 5/22):

TUE. (5/19) – go to the “May 18 - 22” Channel in Teams.  Watch today’s video PPT file and then go to the Assignment “Crash Course Imperialism” in Teams.  The Crash Course video is on YouTube but will be linked in the Assignment post, and you will complete an activity in a Word doc (also linked to the Assignment post). This assignment is due on Fri., 5/22.

WED. (5/20) – I will have Office Hours from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Wednesdays where I will be available for immediate email responses to questions and for video calls (the “Meet” feature within Microsoft Teams).  Please let me know if you would like to schedule a video call.  I will also do my best to be available for Office Hours on my prep periods (2nd and 5th periods on the At-Home Learning schedule sent out prior to spring break---subject to change in the future).

FRI. (5/22) – go to the “May 18 – May 22” Channel in Teams.  Watch today’s video PPT file and then head over to the Assignment “DBQ: Perspectives on the Belgian Congo.”  In this activity, you will close read primary sources and answer comprehension questions in the linked Word doc.  This will be due on Tue., 5/26.

- To use Microsoft Teams, go to Office.com and sign in with:

Username: school ‘email’ (username@issaquah.wednet.edu)Username should be first 4 letters of last name, first 3 letters of first name, and grad year [ex: MatzChr23]

Password: school computer password

- If you CAN'T access Office/Teams, PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP!

MISSING WORK: if you have any missing work since April 20 (the start of At-Home Learning) OR missing assignments from before the closure, remember that you can still earn points by completing and turning these in via email or Teams. For pre-closure work, go to our class website (https://matzencisd.wixsite.com/worldhistoryon the “Files” page for your course.

**The deadline for all late/missing work will be FRIDAY, 6/12.**  Please refer to Principal Martin’s email about Semester 2 grading and/or email me with any questions.

- Previously recorded lessons (and the PPT slides they’re based on) can be found under the “Files” tab in the channel for that week.

Please don’t hesitate to reach out via email or, for questions about Teams, with a message in the “General” channel or on a specific post in Teams.  As we continue to work hard and adapt to this challenging time, remember that you are growing tremendously and developing perseverance from all of this.  Keep on fighting and hang in there. :)  Cheers and talk to you soon,
